Ready or not, we’re entering the golden age of artificial intelligence. Luckily, there are plenty of free resources to help you wrap your human brain around AI’s more intimidating concepts.

Whether you just want to get a quick lay of the land, you’re personally looking to leverage AI to help you work more efficiently, or you’re set on taking your entire business to the next level, here are some great free courses to help you get there. Let’s begin with the one that involves the least commitment of time.

Intro to Generative AI

You can master the basics of the AI boom in under an hour with Codeacademy’s free Intro to Generative AI course. This is a great first stop if you’re wondering what all the fuss is about. You’ll learn the fundamentals of how AI is used to generate content, the different types of generative-AI technologies, and how generative AI fits into the larger AI ecosystem.

Still not sure if you’re truly interested in generative AI or not? This is the place to start.

Introduction to ChatGPT

We can’t talk about generative AI without mentioning ChatGPT, the technology behind the recent AI gold rush.

In edX’s free Introduction to ChatGPT course, you’ll learn everything you need to know about using ChatGPT to generate content—and it’ll only take a few hours.

There are three modules to work your way through, from getting started with the technology to customizing its features to leveraging advanced functionality and integrating ChatGPT with outside services. You’ll even learn to build your own chatbots.

Career Essentials in Generative AI

Now, the fun part: using generative AI to help you get some work done.

Microsoft and LinkedIn have teamed up to bring you the free Career Essentials in Generative AI course, a four-and-a-half-hour investment that’ll pay massive dividends.

You’ll learn various ways to automate your work and how to use the Copilot feature, which now lives inside Microsoft productivity apps such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. There are also modules on the ethics of artificial intelligence and how to get better search results with AI.
