Gregory Rodriguez is Zócalo Public Square’s publisher and founder, and senior fellow at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. His syndicated column, "An Imperfect Union,” explores the collisions of people, past and present, that have shaped America; investigates the many ways we define Americanness today; and examine how other diverse countries are struggling to cohere. Rodriguez was previously a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, and is author of Mongrels, Bastards, Orphans, and Vagabonds: Mexican Immigration and the Future of Race in America. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Time, and The Atlantic.
