Candice-Leigh Baumgardner is a founding partner and Principal Strategist of o2studio, a company she launched with Sue Magnusson in 2000. Together, Candice-Leigh and Sue created something entirely new in o2studio -- a design firm dedicated to world-class innovation strategy and color & material design built on deep cultural and consumer insights, and a relentless pursuit of "what’s next."
With diverse backgrounds in Research & Strategy and Color & Materials, Candice-Leigh and Sue have created a seamless connection between the strategic and creative aspects of design. The marriage of these distinct points of view combined with a shared belief in the highest level of aesthetic and strategic execution is what has built o2studio’s reputation for innovation, insights, creativity, and excellence.
For over a decade, they have worked side by side to bring unbridled creativity and analytical rigor to the design process -- looking deeply at issues, discovering opportunities for true innovation, and creating award-winning, creative solutions for clients including Hyundai, HP, Dell, Xbox, Milliken Automotive, Nokia, Volvo, Microsoft and many others.
Candice-Leigh’s expertise is a unique blend of fine arts education (choral & orchestral conducting) and design research practice, which has led to a rewarding career as a design strategist and educator. She is a member of the Humanities & Design Sciences Faculty at Art Center College of Design, where she teaches courses in Design Research, Product Design and Transportation Design. Prior to o2studio, Candice-Leigh did time as Studio Lead of Research & Strategy at Hauser, Inc. in Southern California.
