Dear Data

Dear Data

Data, on its own, can be a bit impersonal. Graphic design pros (and pals) Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec began a series of regular snail-mail correspondence to bring a human touch to the numbers that made up their day-to-day lives. Over the course of a year, the pair exchanged hand-drawn postcards with sketches illustrating different, delightful compositions—say, chronicling a week of what made them laugh, or how many times they said “good night”—that allowed them to look at their lives and friendship with a whole new perspective. By abandoning tech, they were able to relate to this info in a way that felt more personal; their back-and-forths have been bound in a book called Dear Data for others to pore over and enjoy.
