Fashion designer Zac Posen became an industry darling at age 20, when a dress that he created for the model Naomi Campbell stunned onlookers and launched his career in the early aughts. Since then, Posen has weathered plenty of ups and downs: A decade of success red carpet couture was followed by a series of mishaps in 2010 that forced him to step back and reevaluate his brand. Since then, Posen has joined the popular reality TV show Project Runway as a judge, launched a more affordable clothing line, and signed on as the creative director of women’s wear at Brooks Brothers. That collaboration surprised the industry, but Posen’s collections for Brooks Brothers—which began rolling out in early 2016—have been well received, characterized by playful details that have refreshed Brooks Brothers’ classic suits and dresses.
Posen isn’t afraid to dabble in technology, either: He created a fiber optic woven organza dress for Claire Danes to wear to the Met Gala in 2016, as well as a gown that featured LED lights programmed to twinkle in sequence for Lupita Nyong’o in 2015.
