For being a fresh voice in messaging
Ricardo Vice Santos is the cofounder and CEO of Roger, a simple voice messaging service that lets users exchange recorded sound snippets. So far, the app has been used in more than 180 countries, with some users exchanging spoken snippets a few sentences at a time throughout the day and others spending hours in conversation over the course of a week. Ironically, it took a new app to get people using their phones as originally intended. Santos, who was born in Portugal and is engaged to a Swedish woman, created Roger to make staying in touch across time zones easier. Prior to founding Roger, Vice Santos led growth/new markets at Spotify, overseeing launches in more than 30 countries, including the U.S., the Philippines, and Brazil.
