Most Creative People

Peter Lord is a British animator, producer, and director who cofounded Aardman Animations in 1972. The studio produces stop-motion animated films usually with claymation puppets, and is behind such critically-acclaimed films as Chicken Run—which Lord directed—Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Flushed Away, and Shaun the Sheep Movie, along with numerous TV projects and commercials. In 2012, Lord directed Aardman’s first 3D stop-motion film, The Pirates! Band of Misfits. Lord has overseen Aardman’s expansion into VR and gaming—in 2018 it released its first console game, 11:11 Memories Retold--and along with cofounder David Sproxton, has transformed the company into an employee-led organization. In 2018, the cofounders handed over a 75% stake in Aardman to the company’s 140 employees in order to establish more creative and financial independence for Aardman, which is one of the few stand-alone film production companies.
