Nora Zimmett is senior vice president of programming for The Weather Channel television network. She joined TWC in September 2014 from CNN, where most recently she served as co-creator and executive producer of both New Day Weekend and Smerconish. Nora oversees all aspects of Weather’s live and original programming and its world-renowned storm coverage. She is responsible for the overall editorial direction of the network.
In 2017, the channel posted its highest ratings in 35 years--a 9% year-over-year increase in viewers in key demographics, and a much higher time spent viewing despite cord cutting.
Prior to joining CNN, she held senior producer and producer roles at Bloomberg Television and Fox News Channel. Nora is an award-winning journalist and her many honors include an Emmy Award for her work on election coverage in 2012. Her goal is to convert 80% of The Weather Channel’s forecasting to immersive mixed reality by 2020.
