Matías Duarte leads the Material Design team, which is focused on design across all of Google’s products and platforms. His team is responsible for interaction patterns, infrastructure, and tool chains, as well as overall UX best practices across products. Last year, Duarte’s team designed Android 5.0 Lollipop, which introduced Material Design, and Android Auto, Android Wear, and Android TV.
Prior to Google, Duarte was responsible for the design of several consumer devices and computing platforms. As At Palm, he led the design of the WebOS operating system, at Helio he created the Ocean series of two-way sliders, and as director of design at Danger he led the design of the T-Mobile Sidekick.
