Marsai Martin’s breakout role as Diane on ABC’s Black-ish has been a springboard into ventures beyond acting. At just 14 years old, Martin became the youngest executive producer of a major motion picture with Little, which took in more than $15 million during its opening weekend. In 2019, Universal Pictures signed a first-look deal with Martin and her production company Genius Productions. The first film to bow from that partnership will be StepMonster, with Martin producing and starring. As Hollywood continues to chase younger audiences, Martin represents a new wave of creatives who are taking control over their own stories.
