Mark Williams is the founder of Shakespeare in a Chair, a literacy program for eight-year-olds to young adults, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Utilizing the works of William Shakespeare, the program strengthens critical thinking, oratorical and reading comprehension skills. Prior to launching Shakespeare in a Chair, Williams was the director of business development for Charlotte Center City Partners, where he managed the organization’s corporate sponsorship program. Before relocating to Charlotte, Williams spent over 15 years as a sales and marketing executive in the cable television industry, with such companies as Time Warner Cable, Showtime Networks Inc., and Courtroom Television Network. A native of Queens, New York, Williams is a graduate of Pace University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing management. He is married with four children, and volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Red Cross.
