Kevin Plank had the idea for drier and lighter sportswear after repeatedly needing to change out of his drenched T-shirt while serving as special teams captain on the University of Maryland football team. After graduation, Plank researched fabrics and received feedback on his prototypes from fellow football players to develop the first line of Under Armour sports garments. Georgia Tech became his first team sale, followed soon after by other Division I and NFL teams. The brand has since infiltrated every other major sport and has an impressive roster of top athletes that rep Under Armour gear.
Plank also serves on the board of directors of the National Football Association and College Hall of Fame.
