Josh Tetrick is the CEO of Hampton Creek, a food technology startup based in San Francisco. Hampton Creek’s mission is embodied by the combination of sustainability and science; Tetrick believes that plant-based foods are healthier, use less of the earth’s resources, and could replace household staples like eggs and mayonnaise. He was influenced by a seven-year stint in Africa where, on a Fulbright Scholarship, he worked on a variety of social good projects that he ultimately felt had little impact. After returning to the U.S., Tetrick briefly worked at Toms Shoes before starting his own crowdfunding platform, 33needs, which connected social entrepreneurs to investors. He then launched Hampton Creek with his friend Josh Balk, investing his life savings in the endeavor until he secured funding.
