Heben Nigatu

Social producer, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert | New York

For mixing comedy with commentary

Heben Nigatu is a writer and the co-host of BuzzFeed's Another Round podcast. She announced in 2016 that she would be joining the staff of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Another Round, which launched in 2015, features Nigatu and BuzzFeed writer/editor Tracy Clayton sipping bourbon, laughing at Clayton’s jokes, and talking with each other and their guests about timely topics—from mental health and police brutality to all things Beyoncé—that matter to them and to their hundreds of thousands of weekly listeners. The hour-long show is known as much for its insightful interviews with such big names as Hillary Clinton, Lena Dunham, Roxane Gay, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Hannibal Buress as for introducing its audience to lesser-known artists, comedians, and bloggers of color. The chemistry between the co-hosts, who met when Clayton joined the media company in 2014, holds it all together. Nigatu became a BuzzFeed fellow in 2012 before joining the staff full-time in March 2013. While at BuzzFeed, Nigatu had various editing and writing roles, and penned longform critiques like “In Defense Of Kanye’s Vanity: The Politics Of Black Self-Love.”
