
Ethan Brown spent eight years at Ballard Power Systems—the world’s leading PEM fuel cell company—before refocusing his life. As a committed vegan, he decided to search for a way to take plant-based proteins and re-align them to mimic the mouthfeel, appearance, and overall sensory experience of animal meats. He met Dr. Fu-hung Hsieh and Harold Huff at the University of Missouri and several years later, Beyond Meat was born.
Through his creation of Beyond Meat and mass production of tasty, plant-based protein, Brown aims to improve human health by offering up nutritious alternatives to animal meat and harmful additives, while fighting climate change and the depletion of natural resources.
