Emily Segal is an artist and brand consultant based in New York. In December 2014, she became the first creative director of Genius (formerly Rap Genius). She is a cofounder of K-HOLE, the trend forecasting group and art collective best known for coining the term normcore. Previously, she was a strategist for corporate branding projects at Wolff Olins (clients included the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Geographic, and Target) and a contributing editor at the contemporary culture magazine 032c in Berlin. Her essays have been published by DIS Magazine, Sternberg Press, and 032c, and she’s lectured on branding and consumer culture. She is a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on the Future of Consumer Industries and is a visiting critic at the Yale University School of Art Graphic Design Program. She graduated from Brown University with a BA with honors in comparative literature, and is a native New Yorker.
