Cofounder, ATX Television Festival | Austin

For getting television fans off the couch

Caitlin McFarland, along with Emily Gipson, launched the ATX Television Festival in 2011. To do it they turned to Kickstarter in 2012, tapping 325 backers to raise $27,750 for the inaugural edition of the Austin, Texas-based festival that’s become one of the brighter, rowdier highlights in a slate of sleepier, more traditional events for the TV industry. In the years since the festival launched, the pair have put together panels with showrunners, writers, and creators; hosted marathons of cult favorites like House of Cards, Childrens Hospital, and Enlisted; and reunited the cast of shows like the Gilmore Girls, Queer as Folk, and Friday Night Lights—all while maintaining the festival’s intimate setting and raucous, good-times atmosphere.
