Benedict Cumberbatch is a London-born actor who has worked in theater, television, radio, and film. His big screen breakthrough came in 2004 when he portrayed Stephen Hawking in the television movie "Hawking" and was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actor for his performance. In 2010, he became a household name as Sherlock Holmes in the British television series "Sherlock" and received his third BAFTA nomination. He's since appeared in Oscar-nominated films like "War Horse," "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and "12 Years a Slave," among many others. He also starred in 2014's critically acclaimed "The Imitation Game" — the biopic of Nazi codebreaker Alan Turing.
