Ane Crabtree is a costume designer for film and television. She is best known for her work on Westworld and The Handmaid’s Tale, which earned her an Emmy nomination and a Costume Designers Guild award for outstanding contemporary television series. Her iconic designs for The Handmaid’s Tale, which lend elegant beauty to a dystopian world, have traveled beyond TV and taken on political and cultural meaning for women fighting for women’s rights around the world.
Crabtree began her career designing the pilot episode for The Sopranos, and went on to design for shows such as Justified, Pan Am, and Masters of Sex, plus films including Please Give and Lila & Eve. Crabtree has also designed commercials for brands such as Adidas, Sherwin Williams, AT&T, and Miller Lite. She grew up in Kentucky and studied fine arts at Harlaxton College in the U.K. and fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
