Alana Branston is the CEO and cofounder of Bulletin, a new retail concept that gives small, women-run merchants access to shelf space in the company’s physical stores. Branston formerly worked in sales at the content marketing startup Contently before starting Bulletin as a side hustle with then colleague Ali Kriegsman, who is the startup’s COO. After going through many different iterations of Bulletin and two separate Y Combinator accelerators, Branston and Kriegsman have created a space for female entrepreneurs to sell apparel, accessories, jewelry, and beauty products while creating a feminist, inclusive community centered around its physical stores. The company donates 10% of its profits to Planned Parenthood of NYC, solidifying its feminist cred. In April, the company opened its third permanent retail store in New York City’s Union Square, and Branston hopes to open several more stores in different parts of the country by the end of 2018.
