Virgin Galactic

Virgin Galactic hasn’t always been rocketing ahead in its quest to conquer commercial space flight. In 2014, the company suffered a terrible blow when one of its manned test flights exploded and came careening back to earth, killing one of its two pilots. It’s use of human pilots sets it apart from SpaceX and Blue Origin, which so far have relied on computer navigators to get their craft into space. But Virgin Galactic has rebounded and in 2018, launched the first human space flight mission on American soil since the shuttering of the Space Shuttle. The rocket built to carry space tourists reached an altitude of 82.7 kilometers.
