Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger first launched in 1985 and became one of the most iconic and popular U.S.-based designer brands for decades, defining the American collegiate preppy style. In the mid-2000s, the brand began to falter, partly due to a tough retail environment and partly because too many licensing deals meant the brand was over-distributed and the quality of products went down. The brand was acquired by PVH Corp. in 2010. Since then, the brand has gone through something of a revival. Rather than showing collections at New York Fashion Week, Tommy Hilfiger has hosted enormous see now, wear now carnivalesque events in New York and Los Angeles. It has also engaged gen-Z shoppers through its website and social media, allowing them to shop directly from the app. Gigi Hadid has been the face of the brand since 2016. The partnership has been credited with helping attract new generations of shoppers to the brand. In 2016, Tommy Hilfiger sales were $6.6 billion worldwide.
