Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects | Partners

Founded by husband-and-wife team Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, this small, 30-year-old architecture firm was chosen for a coveted commission in 2016: to build the Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects focuses on institutional buildings, including the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago, and the Folk Art Museum in New York, so Obama’s library is squarely in its wheelhouse. Known for a sensitive, site-specific approach to design that puts community first, TWBTA is a known favorite of former President Obama, who awarded the practice a National Medal of Arts in 2013.
