SpaceX

Elon Musk-led rocket maker SpaceX is already on track to provide some of the most cost-effective launches available—which is part of why NASA has contracted the company for $2.6 billion worth of transportation to and from the International Space Station. But SpaceX’s ambitions are far larger, as evidenced by Musk’s September 2016 revelation of the plan to build an “Interplanetary Transport System” that will transport humans to Mars and begin colonizing the red planet within the next 50 to 100 years.
