Only 57% of women go back to the same job after having a child. New York City startup Maven believes that with some extra support through pregnancy, post-partum, and return to work, more of them might come back. The Maven Maternity plan for employers, launched in early 2016, provides parents-to-be with on-demand access to a vast digital network doctors, midwives, nurse practitioners, mental health providers, and other women’s and children’s health specialists. Booked through a mobile app and available 24/7, flat-fee appointments--via video or private messaging--range from $18 for 10 minutes with a nurse practitioner to $50 for 40 minutes with a therapist. Maven partners with clinics around the country for fertility assistance services, including IVF and egg freezing, and also offers back-to-work management training with career coaches who specialize in parenthood transitions. Since launching, Maven has served nearly 100,000 patients, with 300% growth from 2016 to 2017. An $11 million Series A in summer 2017 will help them on-board more large employer clients in 2018.
