Hudway is a smartphone app that aims to make it safer to drive while interacting with technology. Dashboard-mounted "heads-up" a display systems--which guide drivers with directions--can cost upwards of $1,000. Similarly, augmented-reality windshield displays have so far appeared mostly in luxury cars such as Audi and BMW. Hudway wants to make these heads-up displays accessible to everyone, starting with a mobile app that projects turn-by-turn GPS directions onto a user's windshield during low-visibility conditions. In 2015, Hudway raised more than $600,000 on Kickstarter for Hudway Glass, a transparent dashboard panel that can project directions from any GPS app and works with any smartphone.
