Duplass Brothers Productions is an independent TV and film production company run by brothers Mark and Jay, who adhere to an “epically small” approach to filmmaking. The pair often write, direct, and star in their small-budget productions, which include the HBO shows Togetherness and Room 104, as well as films like Blue Jay and The Puffy Chair, all of which explore the minutiae of human interactions. In 2017, the company launched Donut with ad agency veterans Charlie Leahy and Nigel Lopez-McBean. The digital and branded content shop applies the Duplassian aesthetic to short-form storytelling for platforms like Snapchat--where Donut’s first scripted series will debut in 2018. Donut has also worked with tech companies like Lyft and Amazon to create promotional videos. The Lyft ad featured comedian Fortune Feimster riding around in a convertible singing about how Lyft passengers could donate to the charity of their choice during rides.
