The last summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro left Brazil $1 billion over budget on its 12 remodeled or built sports facilities-just one example of Brazil's notoriously complicated and inefficient construction industry. Construct aims to cut through the bureaucracy, increase transparency, and save Brazil a whole lot of money. The real-time collaborative work app unites various levels of construction employees, from designers and engineers to the people actually building the structures. Employees in the field can send photos and notes to supervisors and suppliers, facilitating open communication designed to reduce mistakes, overspending, and corruption. Both cofounders are American, giving them a unique take on Brazil's infrastructure problems, but they proved they knew what they were talking about with the release of a Brazil Startup Report that has been viewed more than 50,000 times.
