All businesses want to be able to predict the future. That’s doubly true for farmers, whose entire livelihoods depend on unpredictable environment patterns. CiBO has created a platform to eliminate some of this guesswork. The company provides an analytics platform that models every part of the agricultural ecosystem—weather, soil, plants, etc. But farmers aren’t CiBO’s customers, though they do use the product. Instead, the company uses data provided by farmers to offer insights to the bigger players spanning the agriculture supply chain. Large food companies and even NGOs can understand market dynamics by tapping into CiBO’s platform. All the while, farmers provide data—and gain insights into how to make their crops better. Currently, CiBO works with farms that span nearly 1.5 million acres.
