Public markets investors today benefit from enormous speed, transparency, and liquidity. But alternative asset classes, like real estate, remain operationally intensive and opaque. Cadre, a New York-based startup, has set out to make alternative assets more investor-friendly by building a platform that streamlines deal sourcing, due diligence, and reporting. As a first step, the company is focused on commercial real estate projects worth at least $15 million. Cofounder and CEO Ryan Williams, a serial entrepreneur and Goldman Sachs alum, has recruited heavy hitters from the real estate investment world and a product director from Square to round out his management team. In June 2017, the company raised $65 million in Series C funding, with Andreessen Horowitz leading the round.
