Founded in 2004, Brightcove is one of the leading providers of cloud services for video. The company provides its 5,000-plus clients in over 70 countries with digital video distribution technology; the ability to monetize those videos with ads; and analytics for live streaming. All of these services lessen the burden and cost associated with distributing video across multiple devices. In 2017, Brightcove launched a live video platform, giving publishers an easy-to-use tool to stream and monetize live events. Seven West Media used the feature when it was in beta mode to stream the Australian Open from 16 different courts and create more than 400 clips of content, including player interviews and highlights. Foxtel, the Australian pay TV network, used Brightcove Live to live-stream the much-hyped Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight to thousands of Australians who were able to buy a virtual ticket even if they weren’t Foxtel subscribers.
