In 2009, the Stirling Prize-winning architect Amanda Levete started her own firm after the death of her husband and former business partner, Jan Kaplicky. Levete’s London-based practice is known for a futuristic architectural style that merges buildings with their surrounding topography. The firm has landed several large commissions, including Central Embassy, a shopping mall and hotel in Bangkok, and a subway station in Naples, and is now considered among the top London architectural practices. In 2016, Amanda Levete Architects completed the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon, Portugal. Maggie’s Cancer Center in Southampton, U.K. and an expansion to London’s V&A museum are both slated to open in 2017.
