Taking Your Temperament

As partial preparation for a Houston Company of Friends coordination team retreat this weekend, I just used AdvisorTeam’s Temperament Sorter personality instrument.

The 70-question survey takes you through the workplace paces to determine whether you fit into one of four categories: idealist, rational, guardian, artisan. According to my responses to questions about how I respond to change, strangers, decisions, colleagues, projects, deadlines, deliberation, cold calls, clutter, new ideas, and closure, I am an idealist.

How do you rate? I’m usually pretty skeptical of the practicality of tools like this — which seems to go against the grain of being an idealist — but what do you think? Does AdvisorTeam peg you?
