NASA figures out where on Mars we should land

A NASA workshop scheduled for February 2017 will help scientists determine a landing site for the Mars 2020 rover. One of the key goals of the mission will be to find a location that might have hosted liquid water, thereby opening up the potential that the planet once supported life. NASA is also discussing where it might land its first crewed mission to Mars in the 2030s. There are eight spots on the short list.
