Trump campaign accepted $1.3 million in donations violating campaign finance laws

That accounts for about 1,100 donations received by the Trump campaign, according to the Federal Election Committee (FEC). The majority of contributions appear to be in violation of donation limits that prohibit individuals from contributing more than $2,700 to a federal candidate during a given election. (Primaries and general elections are considered separate elections.)

This isn’t unique to Trump’s campaign: The Bernie Sanders campaign was alerted by the FEC to similar violations, and CNN reports that Obama, too, received such letters from the FEC. PM
