With lots of news out today about the release of the very first device to run Google’s Tango project, its indoor augmented reality technology, it might come as a surprise to know where the Tango team fits in the tech giant’s org chart.

According to Upload VR, Tango’s director of engineering Johnny Lee said today that the team has been formally housed under Google’s Daydream project–its new mobile VR initiative–and that he’s reporting to Google vice president of VR Clay Bavor.
