Facebook users in the the path of Hurricane Matthew can use Safety Check to let their loved ones know that they’re safe or out of the area. The feature has previously been activated after the Manhattan bombings, Paris attacks, an earthquake in Ecuador, and other disasters and emergencies. “Our hearts go out to the people affected by this tragic event,” Facebook said in a statement. “We hope the people in the area find the tool a helpful way to let their friends and family know they are okay.”
