Google’s DeepMind artificial intelligence division is working with the U.K.’s National Health Service to train software to diagnose common degenerative eye conditions faster, Ars Technica reports.
The project will use data from about 1 million eye scans and anonymized data about patients. The goal is to be able to diagnose conditions like age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy quicker, so patients can get treatment faster and keep their vision longer.
