Google has been holding its I/O developer conference for years, but this year’s event is the first one it’s ever held at the Shoreline Ampitheater concert venue near its headquarters rather than in a stuffy convention center. And it’s the first tech event of any sort I’ve ever attended where the freebies included not only a T-shirt and water bottle but also…sunscreen.
