Music Producer And Entrepreneur Pharrell Williams On New Projects Passing The Purpose Test

1) What’s the biggest lesson you learned in 2012?

“I never knew there could be a purpose to what I do. I made music because it was fun, I wasn’t sure how long it was going to last. I’ve spent my whole life and career doing things solely based on feeling, never once did I consider injecting purpose into my decisions. When your intention is clear, you can attach your fingerprints in a more meaningful way.”

2) How do you think you’ll apply it in the year ahead?

“I only have room for things in my life that feel great AND have purpose. No matter how cool something is, if it doesn’t pass my checklist I’m running the other way.”
