As part of a larger United Nations effort, GirlUp comprises over 100 grassroots girls clubs around the U.S.; the local chapters raise money for girl adolescents in other countries. The funds support U.N. programs for girls in Liberia, Ethiopia, Malawi, and Guatemala that focus primarily on preventing child marriages.
