I've been in the online business since 1981, when it moved at 300 baud and we only dreamed of sending photos of grandchildren to Florida. Very early on I was taken by the medium's ability to organize people's thoughts around themes. "Computer conferencing" was my first exposure with what we now call social networking, when we installed it at The Source in, oh, 1982.
