I'm one of the founders at Fluenz, an early stage company launched by a group of people who thought
there had to be a better way to learn languages. Almost from the very
beginning we realized that most language learning methods don't work
for a few reasons. They lack common sense. They're obsessed with
grammar, gimmicks, or 19th century ideas. They are extremely boring and
they can be outright ugly.

Bio
I'm one of the founders at Fluenz, an early stage company launched by a group of people who thought
there had to be a better way to learn languages. Almost from the very
beginning we realized that most language learning methods don't work
for a few reasons. They lack common sense. They're obsessed with
grammar, gimmicks, or 19th century ideas. They are extremely boring and
they can be outright ugly.
We also realized something else:
interactive, network and media technologies are on the verge of
transforming learning. Guided by our sense of what works and applying
these technologies, we've discovered there is a better way to learn
languages.
Our aim is to create the kind of language learning products we've always wanted for ourselves.
Starting a company from zero has been quite an experience, but in my limited spare time I have tried to keep up with kite-surfing, mid-distance running, mountain biking, scuba-diving, and of course, I little bit of socializing here and there.
A minor major ambition of mine is to become the world’s preeminent expert on beaches. I plan to visit and study each of one of them in great depth, maybe even write the definitive book on the subject.
Personal slogan or motto
