Lalit Dhingra heads up the North American operations of NIIT Technologies, an IT solutions company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. NIIT Technologies works with blue chip corporations in the travel, financial services and manufacturing sectors such as British Airways, ING Global, SEI Investments and Sabre Holdings.

NIIT has its roots in IT education, gaining prominence as Asia’s largest IT trainer through a global franchise model operating in 32 countries. Starting as its first employee in 1991, Dhingra established NIIT’s software development business, building its pre-sales and development teams across Europe, U.S. and Japan. Under his leadership, the North American global support staff has grown to 1100 engineers and accounts for 36% of NIIT Technologies global revenues.

Dhingra has extensive experience in product development and project management spanning industry verticals. Some of the cutting edge technology projects Dhingra has led include consulting on in-flight entertainment systems used by airlines today. Dhingra has also worked on in-house quality projects such as the knowledge transfer portal used across NIIT. He currently serves on the Chairman’s Quality Club and is very active in the movement to turn Atlanta into the U.S.'s next big technology hub.

Dhingra started his career in 1979 as a trainee programer in the early days of India’s software industry. Foreseeing the beginning of India’s telecom revolution, Dhingra went to work with C-DOT – India’s central government initiative helping build indigenous telecom switches. One of the first Asians to be trained in UNIX at Bell Labs, California, Dhingra set up an India based offshore consultancy focusing on large UNIX based development projects.

Dhingra is a regular speaker on Software Quality and Productivity at international conferences. He lives in Atlanta and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Technology Association of Georgia. He is a member of the South Eastern Software Association and Cyber Center for International Business.
