Once a former skeptic of the Christian faith, Frank Harber, senior pastor of the Champions Gate Church in Westlake, Texas, has built his life around sharing the tenets of Christianity with others. Frank Harber was converted to Christianity after doing research on the claims of Jesus Christ. At 21, Frank Harber was working on his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Tyler. An admitted “atheist of ignorance,” he informed a Southern Baptist pastor that Jesus was a myth and the Bible, fiction. The minister was not to be dissuaded. “He had all this evidence,” Frank Harber said years later in an interview. “He challenged me to prove that Christianity was not the truth. I studied Christianity and all the nine major world religions and ended up converting to Christianity.” The conversion changed his life. Once set for law school, Frank Harber enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he completed his doctoral degree. He eventually developed into a sought-after speaker. He has become well-known in the field of apologetics, and has published a book on the topic entitled Reasons for Believing. Frank Harber later joined the faculty at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Through the years Frank Harber has become a leading voice in modern apologetics, helping Christians across the nation better share their faith through Defending the Faith Conferences, Worldview Weekends and a weekly preaching broadcast called “The Real Life.” Frank Harber is the co-creator of Got Life?, a creative resource that combines a Gospel presentation with apologetics in order to bring people to Christ. A prolific writer, Frank Harber has authored a number of books on Christianity. His first book, Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, was published in 1996. He wrote Reasons for Believing in 1999. Frank Harber’s Sherlock’s Faith: An Investigator’s Guide to Christianity was published in 2004. Frank Harber’s latest book is Prove It! In addition, Frank Harber has contributed to The Mission of the Evangelist (Billy Graham Evangelistic Association), Mysteries of the Bible Now Revealed and the Starting Point Study Bible. Frank Harber has also written many magazine articles and twice received the Evangelical Press Association Award of Excellence. Despite all his accomplishments, Frank Harber is careful to remain humble. As he put it so succinctly during a 2005 speech at the “Water for Warriors” Florida Baptist Convention Pastors’ Conference hosted by First Baptist Church in Ocala, Fla., “Ego stands for ‘edging God out.’” Since God asks Christians to be “poor” in spirit, they must be wary of pride, or false humility, Frank Harber continued. He cautioned his listeners to watch out for “pride spotters” in the church, which he said can be a haven for mean-spirited, critical people.
