Dr. Jim Taylor

Jim Taylor, Ph.D., is internationally recognized for his work in the psychology of business, sport, and family. He is a clinical associate professor in the Sport & Performance Psychology graduate program at the University of Denver. Dr. Taylor has been a consultant to and has provided individual and group training to executives, businesses, and corporate associations throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. He is a frequent contributor to Young Presidents’ Organization (www.ypo.org). Dr. Taylor is a Featured Speaker for Natixis Global Associates, the 14th largest asset management firm in the world.

Dr. Taylor has been a consultant to the United States and Japanese Ski Teams, the United States Tennis Association, and USA Triathlon, and has worked with professional and world-class athletes in many sports. He has been invited to lecture by the Olympic Committees of Spain, France, Poland, and the U.S.

Dr. Taylor is a highly sought-after speaker for parent groups, schools, and education organizations. His most asked-for speaking topics include how to push children in a healthy way, the effects of popular culture on children and families, and how to prepare children for the media and technology of the 21st century.

Dr. Taylor received his Bachelor's degree from Middlebury College and earned his Master's degree and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Colorado. He is an Adjunct Faculty at the University of San Francisco and the Wright Institute in Berkeley, and has consulted with the athletic departments at Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

A former U.S. top-20 ranked alpine ski racer who competed internationally, Dr. Taylor is a 2nd degree black belt in karate, a marathon runner, and an Ironman triathlete.

Dr. Taylor is the first author or lead editor of ten books including Positive Pushing: How to Raise a Successful and Happy Child, Your Children are Under Attack: How to Protect Your Kids from American Popular Culture, and the Prime Sport book series (golf, tennis, ski racing, sport). He has published more than 400 articles in scholarly and popular publications, and has given more than 700 workshops and presentations throughout North America and Europe.
