Bio

Ryan began his career as a public relations practitioner in the not for profit sector.  His passion for interactive marketing coupled with his communications experience led him to one of Canada’s largest independent public relations firms, where he helped to build the digital practice.

As Director of Communications for Fuel Industries, Ryan is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for evangelizing the Fuel Industries brand to both the media and to the marketing industry. His success in this area and personal passion for research into new media public relations encouraged Fuel to devote itself to developing Social Media as a core component of strategic ideation.  Since then, Ryan and his growing team have developed and implemented online PR, Buzz Marketing and Social Media strategies for a number of international brands, including HBO, Fox Home Entertainment, Discovery Channel Canada, Johnson & Johnson among others.

An avid blogger, Ryan has written and researched extensively on the subject of social media as it relates to the practice of public relations, and the role of the PR professional in the changing media landscape.  Over the span of his career, Ryan has worked as a PR consultant, a web designer and as director of communications for a national charity.  He holds a degree in communications from Carleton University in Ottawa.
