Hello,

Here is a bit of information about myself, where I've been and where I'm going.

From present to past:

At the moment, I am starting a new business offering facility management services. The name of this business is Single Point FM.

Prior to Single Point FM I was the facilities manager at Magellan's International Travel Corp. I was a one man department in a fairly small company. I was responsible for the facilities operations for 4 properties: corporate office, distribution center and two retail stores.

I worked for Magellan's for 2 1/2 years. I have also been working as a facilities manager for only 2 1/2 years. I changed careers after working in the mapping industry and as a cartographer for more than 20 years.

Prior to Magellan's I worked at Maps.com as Director of Mapping Services. I worked there for three years. Good company. Good people.

Before moving to Santa Barbara, CA I worked for Craig Williams Creative/CommuityLink, in Southern Illinois, as the Director of Cartography.

For 6 years I owned and managed Lick Creek Cartographic Works, a custom cartography house located in Carbondale, IL.

For 10 years I worked as a cartographer at American Resources Group, Ltd. A cultural resource management company specializing in archaeological research and field work in the Midwest.

For 3 years, partially while I was still in school, I worked for the Center of Archaeological Investigations at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale.

I went to school at SIU-C and graduated with a BA in architecture with minors in geography and urban design.

So, as you can see, I have made the career change to follow my original path of study, sort of. I'm using my interests in architecture, building design, systems, etc for facilities work. I'm also extremly interested in technologies that are kind to our environments. Customer service is the most important thing anyone can focus on. You get that right and everything else falls into place.

Please contact me and let's chat.

A. No, it should not count as a sick day. Sick days should be used only for when you are sick or perhaps when your child is sick. Companies should, however, give time off, personal time, for such...
