Bio and Interests: Dan Young

A focus on tomorrow without forgetting the past; the roots of innovation lie in the attempts of those who preceded our best efforts. Technology has always been a fascination for me. I have been tinkering with it since I was a boy. In 2006, I saw an opportunity to leverage my life-long interest in tech with my spirit to innovate, create and promote sustainable solutions. The genesis is my current company DXY Solutions, LLC.

Before I start this weeks post, I wanted to thank all of your for you amazing response and questions regarding the Bill Gates lunch (Post Title: WWBGD- What Would Bill Gates Do?). I am in the process of interviewing three of the lunch attendees who all read your questions and used them directly or indirectly when speaking with him. So please keep on the lookout for that.

This week, scanR. scanR allows you to scan, copy and fax with your camera phone. Impossible you say. Not at all.

Nothing of real substance

Just very intrigued with the FC article, Brand Obama and how this can be adapted to my work and life. The development of a person as a brand is obviously nothing new (Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton), but the way in which Obama and his camp are going about it lends the idea to more than a public figure finding a new way to feed him/herself into the pipeline of celebrity and then using that line to bring forth one's goals. I wonder, at a base, day to day, personal level, how much of an impact would branding oneself in such a way make...

Brand UltraMobility™

The world is become ever more flat, connected and mobile, people and companies, inventors and innovators have the ability to work together in partnership building products and brands and bringing them to the marketplace. I think of the world as developing in such a way that for one to be successful in its ever changing and evolving practices, one must be UltraMobile™. One must be connected (though not tethered down) almost 24 hours a day, moving in and out of time zones, have adaptive leadership (if one is in a position to do so), be flexible and fluid and chameleon-like.
