Streaming video service Boxee has just joined the ranks of Roku and Vudu with its own set-top box, to be built by D-Link. The box, which isn't actually box-shaped at all, will go on sale at a "network of retail outlets" in the first half of 2010. No price just yet.

AT&T, your friendly ISP and cell-phone provider, just became an online TV-Show and Movie network with the introduction of a new Web site. But it's not in competition against Hulu--thanks to an agreement with Hulu.

Is Amazon Buying Netflix?

We've seen this movie before; a couple of years ago, suspense-filled
tales of an impending Amazon takeover of Netflix anti-climactically
amounted to nothing. Rumors began circulating again today that Amazon may buy Netflix, sending shares of both companies higher and offering a respite from the idea that acquisitions will remain stagnant this year. Neither company is confirming (or denying) the rumor at this point, so a rumor it shall remain. But the fact that neither company has debunked the story suggests there could be a shred (or more) of truth to the speculation.

The gap between the Web and television just narrowed a bit further. Starting this fall, Netflix users will be able to stream movies directly from the site to Sony Bravia Internet-enabled televisions. bringing Netflix's 12,000-title collection of on-demand cinema within a software update of big-screen viewing.
